Texas EMS Skills Verification for Late Renewal and Reciprocity

This course provides Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) approved skills verification for Emergency Medical Responders (EMR), Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT), Advanced EMTs (AEMT), and Paramedics. It is designed for EMS personnel who require verification of psychomotor skills for late renewal of a lapsed certification or for reciprocity into Texas.

Participants will complete hands-on skills verification conducted by certified coordinator in accordance with TX DSHS requirements. The session includes assessment of core competencies such as patient assessment, airway management, trauma and medical interventions, and other essential EMS skills as outlined by the National Registry of EMTs and Texas guidelines.

This course is intended for EMS professionals whose Texas certification has expired beyond the standard renewal period and who must complete a skills verification session for reinstatement. It also serves AEMTs and Paramedics relocating to Texas who need skills verification to complete the reciprocity process.

Upon successful completion, participants will receive a signed Texas EMS Verification of Skills Proficiency form for submission to TX DSHS. Attendees must bring a valid photo ID, proof of current or expired EMS certification/license, and evidence of completed continuing education hours if applicable.
