American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor Course
Prepare to teach life-saving skills and make a meaningful impact in your community. The American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor Course equips participants with the knowledge and certification needed to teach First Aid, CPR, and AED courses to others. Whether you are looking to expand your professional credentials, train workplace responders, or instruct community members, this course provides everything you need to confidently lead American Red Cross training programs.
Course Content
Participants will learn how to:
- Deliver Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED training effectively using a blended learning approach.
- Navigate instructor materials, manage class logistics, and adhere to Red Cross standards and protocols.
- Evaluate participant performance and provide corrective feedback.
- Facilitate skills practice sessions and simulations.
- Certify others in:
- Adult, Child, and Infant CPR
- Automated External Defibrillator (AED) use
- Basic First Aid (bleeding control, choking, sudden illness response, etc.)
The course includes both classroom and online components, focusing on instructional methods, administrative procedures, and technical skill competency.
Prerequisites
To enroll, participants must:
- Be at least 16 years of age.
- Possess a current American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED certification or equivalent (Adult and Pediatric recommended).
- Successfully complete the online Instructor Candidate Training prior to the first in-person session.
- Demonstrate proficiency in all required CPR, AED, and First Aid skills during the in-person assessment.
Note: Participants who do not pass the pre-course skills assessment will not be eligible to continue the course. We recommend refreshing your CPR/AED/First Aid skills beforehand if needed.
Certification
Upon successful completion, participants will receive an American Red Cross Instructor certification, valid for two years, allowing them to teach:
- First Aid/CPR/AED (Adult, Child, and Infant)
- Blended or in-person format classes
- Community and workplace-based training programs
Additional Information
- Participants must attend all sessions, complete all course requirements, and demonstrate instructional competency.
- This course involves hands-on practice; wear comfortable attire suitable for floor-based activities.
- Digital instructor materials and training resources are provided and included in the course fee.
Please note: In accordance with American Red Cross policies and procedures, a minimum of six participants is required for the course to run. If fewer than six are enrolled, the course may need to be rescheduled or canceled. We encourage you to invite your colleagues or friends to register and help ensure the class meets the required minimum.
